I’m Mark Thomas. In 1990 I packed my bags in the UK and decided to backpack around Asia. I went to a lot of destinations, including the main places back then like Thailand and India. However while travelling I met my amazing wife and we moved here to Taiwan.  After a while of being here, I knew that I wanted to do something that involved my love for vinyl records, photography, and live music. After finding a cool location in the heart of Taipei, Vinyl Decision was born.

Back in Kent in England is where I grew up, but Taiwan is where I’ve lived since the mid 90’s. I’m married to my wonderful Taiwanese wife, and together we have three amazing kids — two daughters and one son. I love taking them with me on trips to Japan to look for records for Vinyl Decision. We also go to Fuji Rock Festival quite often.

At Vinyl Decision, it’s not just about records on a shelf —we like to create a great atmosphere. That’s why we regularly host live music right here. From local bands to international acts passing through, the idea is simple: bring people together to experience great music. Come alone or with friends, either way you’ll have a good time.

While you’re here feel free to take a look at our records for sale. You’ll find a selection of vinyl spanning genres, decades, and vibes. We often bring in different DJ’s to give the records a whirl.

For live music, we’ve mainly been focusing on Jazz, but some nights we also have blues or other genres.

Aah, and of course we’re a bar too. So if you fancy a drink, along with some great food that we also serve, then VD might well be a good spot for you.
